Notting Hill carnival, 2012
The Notting Hill carnival was launched in 1964 in London, UK. Back in the days, West-Indian steel drum bands would parade in the streets and carribean Londoners, especially the Trinidadian and Tobagonian community, would come out of their houses and follow them. The event celebrates the abolition of slavery. It is always held on the August bank holiday weekend.
