Why you should use sunscreen this summer

Black and dark skinned women often think that they are naturally protected against the sun's damaging effects and don't need to use sunscreen. But dark skin does not block cancer.

Darker skins are less prone to sunburns thanks to a higher level of melanin providing a natural skin protection factor of up to 13.

However, all skin types can get malignant melanoma and dark skinned people who did not protect themselves are likely to develop more severe skin cancers.

Conclusion: protect your skin with an Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of minimum 15.

How to trim your split ends

Follow the advice of TheTruthisHair on Youtube to trim your split ends. Her videos are really inspiring and motivating if you decided to grow your hair but don't know where to start. It's a great technique to get your ends smoother. But you may cut some strands of hair with her method so if you're a beginner, you may want to braid your hair in small sections and cut the split ends coming out of the braids.

Product review: Mixa

Mixa recently launched a new range of moisturizing products with Shea Butter for dark skins.

We tried the body cream and found out that it doesn't smell as nice as the original Mixa Intensif Peaux Seches with Allantoine. However, the texture is very light, soft and silky, contrary to most intensive body creams and it really adds a little glow to your skin, like glitter.

Our verdict: the original Mixa with Allantoine wins because it's texture is as soft as the Shea Butter version and it has a great perfume on top.
